I?m back?after a warm?week away in England.
Landed?in Barcelona at 1.15pm ? and at 2.15pm sat down to lunch with my partner at La Rita.
As ever a good, workaday lunch?9,40? for a revoltillo ? scrambled eggs with prawns and asparagus, followed by a leg of chicken with rice and gravy, followed with a burguer ? a puff pastry case filled with marmalade and served on a thin, slippery lake of chocolate sauce, plus bread water and wine all served in good time and in pleasant suroundings.
La Rita is a steady standby ??see this post.
If it?s a weekday lunchtime and you happen to be in the vicinity of La Pedrera or ?Vin?on, Casa Battl? or Palau Robert then you?ll be hard pressed to find a better deal.
Anyway?England during an unseasonal heatwave?and a late Sunday lunch at the Teddington Hands?lamb & mint pie served with mashed potato and peas??10.50. Fabulous.
I cannot fathom how anyone can eat a starter, mains and dessert at this place; the portions are very large.?Wiser heads and bellies among my companions opted for starters instead of a main course?linguine with prawns, and a?Ploughman?s Lunch?except the Ploughman?s isn?t available on Sundays (WTF?)?and instead opted for pat?.
Then, onto London ? and?
