What will the New Twiztid CD Mean to ... - Music Articles - EzineMark

?

?

If the year were 2000, only a small handful of music enthusiasts would know what Psychopathic Records and horror rap are, and an even smaller number would be aware of horror rap superstars in the making Twiztid. But then Napster and a number of other p2p file sharing services erupted, and not too long after, music enthusiasts from around the world were enjoying Twiztid, not merely the local heads living in metro Detroit.

?

Once that happened, every new Twiztid CD would be immediately available to anyone who wanted it. Eventually, record stores wouldn?t even need to make sure their shelves were stocked with the new Twiztid CD because they knew the majority would be sold online. And thus the meteoric rise of now horror rap megastars Twiztid began.

?

But even though all of that history might get your blood pumping, the music industry is still struggling with this new digital identity 12 years later, and big album drops, like the forthcoming release of Twiztid?s new CD, Abominations, only reaffirm the uncertainty.

With that said, what will the new Twiztid CD mean for horror rap? For Psychopathic Records? For the music industry as a whole?

?

It?s no secret that many Psychopathic Records followers believe that horror rap stalwarts Insane Clown Posse are slowing down. And that?s a shame, because if any outsider knows of any horror rap artist, it?s Insane Clown Posse. The stage is slowly being set for the horror rap heir apparent, and group to take that spot could very will be duo Twiztid.

?

Not to say that Madrox and Monoxide child are new to the horror rap game?they?ve been around since the 90s as well?but their career with Psychopathic Records has not amassed the monumental following that ICP?s has been.

?

So, now that you see the bigger horror rap and Psychopathic Records picture in context, do you think that Twiztid?s new CD, Abominations, will symbolize the passing of the torch from ICP to Twiztid? Yes, ICP also has a new horror rap record coming out on Psychopathic Records later this year, but unless it?s up to snuff, this might be the album cycle in which Twiztid?s new CD finally receives more attention from fans and critics than ICP?s new CD does.

?

If this were to happen and Twiztid?s new CD got the lion share of attention from horror rap fans and critics, I?d say they?ve earned it. It?s not easy living in the shadows of a label mate, especially when that label mate performs the same genre of music you do in horror rap, and even more so when the label, Psychopathic Records in this case, is owned by the band that always receives the most praise.

?

As for the musical component of Twiztid?s new CD, it?s going to blow the minds of horror rap enthusiasts nationwide. Their last album, Heartbroken and Homicidal, was well received from both fans and critics alike, giving them motivation to make this one even more memorable.?
